From Revolution to Book Café

The story of Sepas Book Café can be told in a poetic language filled with passion and hope, where every color, line, and symbol reflects moments of struggle, solidarity, and love for Iranian culture.
In 2022, when the voices for “Women, Life, Freedom” in Iran reached their peak, I, like a wandering bird searching for the sky of liberty, took action. In those spirited days, I sought to be the voice of the Iranian people through art. This led to the establishment of “Azadi Art Gallery” in The Hague, a space that, for six months, showcased revolutionary artworks and hosted cultural and social programs. This gallery demonstrated that within every Iranian lies a deep sense of unity and a need for a warm space to express cultural identity.

Despite the enthusiastic reception, financial constraints and the challenges arising from my political activities made it difficult to continue on the same path. Yet, this experience became a turning point, a realization that Iranians abroad yearn for a space where the essence of Iran is alive in every book, every cup of coffee, and every conversation, a place where the Persian language and the richness of Eastern culture can be deeply felt.
Thus, the idea of a “small Iran” abroad took shape, and Sepas Book Café was born, a haven for all Persian speakers, where the spirit of resistance, solidarity, and freedom is elegantly woven like delicate strokes on the canvas of history. The café’s visual identity, with its warm hues, calligraphic designs, and motifs inspired by Iranian art, tells a story of transformation, hope, and rebirth.

The name “Sepas”, chosen in honor of my father, a poet and my inspiration, reminds us that every step, every poem, and every encounter is imbued with gratitude and appreciation for “Women, Life, Freedom.”
